Tackling Food Waste
Good food should be eaten
In the UK 250,000 tons of food is thrown away each year by supermarkets as they respond to consumer expectations and demands. At the same time people sometimes find themselves facing hunger and do not have the money to feed themselves and their families. In 2018 Cambridge City Foodbank provided food to over 8,000 Cambridge residents and there are many more who struggle to afford the food they need for everyday life. Fairbite⢠is a response to this situation aiming to enable people struggling to afford food to access food that would otherwise go to waste.
